Willard, Robert "Bob" and Donald Anderson - 1940
Robert "Bob" Anderson was the first of three brothers to enlist in Weyburn Sask. on 27 October 1939. Training as a signaller with 1st Canadian Sigs Rein Unit, he was wounded at Dieppe. After convalescing in England, he decided to transfer to 1st Canadian Special Services Battalion. Bob was killed during the Rhineland Campaign, near the Franco-Italian border, 13 September 1944. He left behind a wife and daughter.
Donald Anderson, the youngest brother, enlisted in the Royal Canadian Artillery, also trained as a signaller. He was assigned to the 7th Canadian Medium Battery as a gunner, 5th Canadian Medium Regiment RCA. Both Willard and Donald returned home.
