Documents
National Archives Canada provides a choice of two files when obtaining an Armed Forces Personnel Record in thier application (also see Personnel/Crew Downloads).
The Genealogy File contains very basic information, i.e. Attestation/Application Form, Medals awarded, Postings to bases etc... usually not enough info and you'll kick yourself for not ordering entire file.
The complete Personnel File has every document the service man/woman filled out, plus any document the Armed Forces filled out without his/her knowledge. Also includes all documents sent to Next of Kin if this individual was killed, and documents not sent to N.O.K. concerning investigation into his/her death.
Many of these documents I cropped to contain part of first page, as one document can be several pages.
Microfilm can be purchased or obtained through inter-library loan, the purchased copy is usually a better quality.
