1000th sortie

“Is this one big enough, Flew?” asks P.O Bob Brown of (88 Belsize Dr.) Toronto. F/L Murray Flewelling (512 22nd Ave. W. Calgary) finds it hard to make up his mind, although Bomb Aimer Brown is an expert in such matters. Occasion is the 1000th sortie and first anniversary of the RCAF Bomber Group’s Bluenose squadron. F/L Flewelling and his crew, as one of the squadron’s “originals” was selected for the honor. The lads made a personal visit to the bomb dump to hand pick their cargo which crashed down the night on a target in occupied France behind the invasion lines.
