Flak Damage, Crew 28
L to R
Sgt. B. Kunkel, & Sgt G. Rice
These Halifaxes can stand a lot of punishment, according to the lads who fly in them, and the two members of the RCAF Bomber Group’s Bluenose squadron, pictured above, are grateful for that fact. Recently, over Leipzig , their aircraft piloted by F/Sgt John Keane , of Orono, Ont., was badly battered and one propeller rendered useless, but the skipper managed to coax it back across Germany to its home aerodrome.
A badly perforated wing gets the attention of two members of the crew, Sgt. Bill Kunkel (left) of Cargill, Ont. the mid upper gunner, and Sgt Glen Rice , 94 – 13th St. West , New Toronto, Ont., the tail gunner.
